Sanctuary and Möller Organ

When planned in the late 1960s to accommodate a growing church, the design of the Sanctuary focused on the soaring aspect of a cathedral-type space that directed attention to the heavens. A classic pipe organ and complementary acoustics would assist in this effort.

The Chapel Organ

The chapel, originally built in 1950 as the first formal worship space at River Road Church, is still used for small worship services, weddings, and funerals.

Grand Pianos

River Road Church has been blessed to have in its inventory of instruments five grand pianos, each given to the church by members.

Young Adults

About

Our young adults are a group of 18- to late-20-somethings who are college students, grad students, in the military, and in the workforce.

They gather in small groups and larger gatherings for study and fellowship. Follow them on Instagram @riverroadyoungadults and request to join their private Facebook group “RRCB Young Adults.”

Sunday School

Young Adults meet about twice a month and use a variety of books and devotional materials relating to current events and Liberation theologies of the Bible.

The group is led by class members in a rotating schedule.

College Tours

Once or twice throughout the year, our ministers and RRCB members visit our college students by meeting them for coffee, lunch, or dinner at their respective universities.

This is a way for our RRCB youth alumni to continue to be connected to their church and maintain those relationships.

Social Events

Discover an array of social events tailored for young adults throughout the year that offer opportunities for connection, growth and fun.

  • Sunago Sunset Series
  • Christmas Party
  • Friendsgiving
  • Flying Squirrel baseball games
  • Day Trip to Carter Mountain
  • Top Golf

Spiritual Discernment

Young Adults at RRCB have the opportunity to engage in spiritual discernment and guidance through yearly retreats and occasional Theology on Tap events.

Through the retreats, the focus is to find rest and renewal, while maintaining relationship with God and each other. For Theology on Tap, our young adults gather occasionally at breweries and homes throughout the year to discuss current events, leaning into conversation about who God is and how to live out love and peace in our world.

Weekend Retreats
Theology on Tap

Weekend Retreats

Retreats for Young Adults center on finding rest and resetting spirits amidst the busyness and demanding aspects of school, work, and personal lives.

In the past, they have ventured to the beach and to family farms, to be a part of nature and spend time together. These yearly retreats tend to occur in the late spring season and all young adults, including college students, are welcome to attend..

Theology on Tap

Once in a while, our Young Adult group gets together at a local brewery or house to participate in lively discussions about what God is like and can be, the challenges and circumstances of our world and communities, and how to attempt to address current events in light of faith.

These events tend to have a small group feel, but the age and size of the group is not limited.
