Writing Guidelines

Thank you for considering to write a devotion for our 2015 Lenten Devotional Series.  The series will start on Wednesday, February 18, 2015 (Ash Wednesday), and will conclude on Sunday, April 5, 2015 (Easter).

Our goal is to involve our congregation in the pursuit of Thoughtful Faith.  We hope that through writing/reading the devotions and through studying the texts, our congregation and others that we touch will grow in their faith.

Our devotions will be published on our website and be shared through our Facebook page.  As most of the people that plan on visiting our church visit our website, we believe that this is an outstanding way to reach out to both those already involved in our church as well as those considering becoming involved.

There is a text assigned for each day that we will publish a devotion.  A list of days, texts and current assignments is available on the sign-up page.  We will put the scripture reference at the beginning of the devotion, which on the website will link to the full text.  We ask your help in completing the following steps:

  1. Complete the online sign-up form indicating  your preferred Scripture text/day.  Assignments will be given on a first come, first served basis.  (If you have no preference, we will assign you a date based on what gaps we have to fill.)
  2. Complete your devotion, which should be 200 – 250 words in length. When writing your devotion, please include a title for it.  Please complete the devotion in Word or in the body of an email.  We will convert everything to a standard font and format.  You may include a short prayer at the end of the devotion if you desire.
  3. E-mail your Lenten devotion AT LEAST two weeks prior to your date to devotions@rrcb.org.  (Earlier is appreciated.)

Please email devotions@rrcb.org with any questions or comments.  We appreciate your help in this important endeavor.
