Artwork Guidelines

Thank you for considering to illustrate a scripture passage for our 2015 Lenten Devotional Series.  The series will start on Wednesday, February 18, 2015 (Ash Wednesday), and will conclude on Sunday, April 5, 2015 (Easter).

Our goal is to involve our congregation in the pursuit of Thoughtful Faith.  We hope that through writing/reading the devotions and through studying/illustrating the Scripture texts, our congregation and others that we touch will grow in their faith.

Our devotions will be published on our website and be shared through our Facebook page.  As most of the people that plan on visiting our church visit our website, we believe that this is an outstanding way to reach out to both those already involved in our church as well as those considering becoming involved.

There is a Scripture text assigned for each day that we will publish a devotion.  A list of days, texts and current assignments is available on the sign-up page.  We will put the scripture reference at the beginning of the devotion, which on the website will link to the full text.  We ask your help in completing the following steps:

  1. Complete the online sign-up form indicating  your preferred Scripture text/day.  Assignments will be given on a first come, first served basis.  (If you have no preference, we will assign you a date based on what gaps we have to fill.)
  2. Once your assignment is confirmed, spend time with your selected text and create your art.  It can be of any media, though artwork larger than 8.5×11″ will be photographed, not scanned.  Alternately, if you discover work created by somebody else that you feel would be meaningful to associate with a particular text, make sure to properly attribute it and that the image is not protected by copyright.
  3. You may include a short word of explanation with your artwork if you desire.
  4. Submit your artwork to the church office (it will be returned) AT LEAST two weeks prior to your date. (Earlier is appreciated.) You may submit a digital scan/picture to instead.

Please email with any questions or comments.  We appreciate your help in this important endeavor.
