New Sunday Evening Offering for this Fall
Are you looking for something that will revive and deepen your spiritual life? Are you weighed down with heavy work, family, and church responsibilities and desiring something that will keep you centered in that which is of ultimate value? Then consider being a part of Companions in Christ.
Published by Upper Room Ministries, Companions in Christ is a transforming small-group experience that builds spiritual practices within one’s faith pilgrimage. It is a 28-week spiritual journey that draws participants into daily time with God through individual reading and reflection and meeting weekly for sharing and deeper exploration. The journey in spiritual formation moves through five components: Christian journey, scripture, prayer, call, and spiritual guidance.
On Sunday, September 17, at 6:00 p.m., this spiritual formation group will begin. If you are interested in joining, please contact the group facilitator, Sheryl Johnson at 321-4913 or Robert Dibble at 288-1131.
The Way of the Child
Led by Barbara Massey and Jessica Price Vaughan, a new part of the Companions in Christ Series will be offered for children on Sunday evenings, beginning September 17, at 6:00 p.m. The Way of the Child: Helping Children Experience God is a new resource, which focuses on the spiritual formation of children.
The Way of the Child recognizes that children have an innate spirituality, an acceptance of mystery, an amazing capacity for awe, a vital imagination, and an ability to be open to and receive God’s love.
For children in elementary grades, The Way of the Child leads children into a deeper relationship with God, instills in children spiritual practices to form lifelong habits, encourages children to respond to God, and provides an experience of vital community.
PARENTS: If you are interested in your elementary-aged child being a part of this unique opportunity, please contact Barbara Massey, 288-1131. Also, consider being a part of the adult Companions in Christ described elsewhere in The Spire. It will deepen your’s and your child’s spiritual life!
