Adult Ministries - Missions

TWork day

he congregation actively supports mission work in our community and around the world. Members are given opportunities throughout the year to find a place of service. For more information, contact the church office at (804) 288-1131, or Judy Morris, chair of the Board of Missions, 740-3030.

Missions Opportunities


Camp Alkulana

  Richmond Baptist Association camp for inner-city children.

  -collect needed items as announced in The Spire

  -attend clean-up day in June

  -participate in October golf tournament fund raiser

CARITAS

  Homeless transported to our church for food and shelter.

  -join others to prepare and/or serve dinner one night

  -join others to spend the night

  -provide a service (haircutting, sewing, etc.)

Crestview Elementary School (Henrico)

   School partnership.

  -one-on-one tutoring, help teachers

  -explore needs of ESL students (English as a Second Language)

  -your new ideas

CrossOver Clinic

  Health care provided to the uninsured.

  -volunteer as a doctor or nurse

  -volunteer as a translator

  -participate in the spring CrossOver Challenge to raise funds and awareness

English As A Second Language

  Partnership with Second Baptist Church to tutor adults wishing to learn English

  -small group tutoring (training and materials provided)

  -provide snacks or childcare

Habitat for Humanity

  Home building for families in need.

  No previous experience necessary. Must be age 16 or older.

  -volunteer to build, paint, clean up, etc.

  -join special RRCB work days (announced in The Spire)

Interfaith Services of Henrico

  Organization to help Henrico residents with immediate needs not met by government services.

  -collections for certain needs are announced in The Spire; bring donations to collection tables in hallways

Lakewood Manor

  Home for seniors, assisted-living facility.

  -visitation and celebrations

  -adopt a resident

  -teach computer skills, provide music

Micah Initiative

  River Road partnership with SummerHill Elementary School ( Richmond City )

  -small group and one-on-one tutoring (training provided)

  -teacher/tutor activities, socials, administrative level support

  -your new idea

Mission Tours

  Week-long trips (national and international) to aid another church or area of need.

  May include construction work, repairs, Bible school.

  -join RRCB tour team. Dates are announced in The Spire

Prison Ministry – Bon Air Center

   - one hour group visit with incarcerated youth, eg: pizza party

   -learn of other needs

  Must be age 18 or over to volunteer (There has never been a problem with visitor safety)

Richmond Baptist Centers

  Christian outreach to city neighborhoods (Oregon Hill, Southside, Church Hill.)

  -tutoring, Bible study, after school programs

  -exercise and fitness instructors

  -learn of other needs

VCU Collegiate Ministry Center

  A Virginia Baptist presence on campus, also housing the Richmond Center for Liturgical Art.

  -renovation of facility

  -outlet for artistic talent, art displays, set-up, and more

Women on Mission (formerly WMU)

  Organization educating about and promoting Baptist missions with RRCB.

  -join one of our small groups; participate in monthly mission projects
