Welcome
In 1945, a group of Christians began dreaming of a church in Richmond, which, though rooted in Baptist heritage, would be open to people of all Christian faiths. River Road Church was constituted in 1946 and today the congregation continues to grow and foster that dream.
Welcome to River Road.
We cordially invite you to share our journey of faith. We firmly believe that the ministry of River Road Church belongs to all of us: laity and clergy. Committees and mission projects are open to any member who is interested in participating. Each member has a voice in our programs and budgets. Working together we can make a difference to our church and our community.
River Road Church strives to promote what all of us hold in common, rather than emphasize denominational differences. Christ is exalted, and the interpretation of the meaning of life in light of Christian precepts in contemporary times is the central theme.
At River Road, we seek to create an atmosphere of intellectual freedom where ideas and interpretations and even differences of opinion may be expressed and received in a Christian spirit of love.
For many of our members, River Road fulfills a need where couples from different denominational backgrounds can worship together and provide a church home for their children. Membership is open to people of all Christian faiths without the requirement of re-baptism. New members are warmly received by profession of faith and baptism, by letter from another church, or by statement of Christian experience.
Please join us for Sunday School, worship, or any of the many other activities we offer. After Sunday worship, we invite you to join us for coffee in the Fellowship Hall located adjacent to the Sanctuary so that we may meet you personally.
Again, welcome to River Road. We're glad you're here.
